Die Sonatine für Horn ist ein für SchülerInnen am Übergang von der Unter- in die Mittelstufe adäquates und dankbares Solowerk in drei Sätzen, dem man glücklicherweise das Attribut Unterrichts- literatur in keiner Weise anmerkt. Schumanns Kompositionsweise ist zeitgemäß mit kleinen Clustern und jazzigen Harmonien, doch stets gut und angenehm
ins Ohr gehend. In den ersten beiden Sätzen meidet er thematische Wiederholungen und
traditionelle Formen.
Wiedererkennungsassoziationen werden durch sich wiederholende Begleitmuster des
Klaviers geweckt. Erst der dritte Satz bringt durch die Barform eine echte Wiederholung des
ersten Teils. Das Solohorn muss sich hier in der in diesem Lernstadium meist noch
ungewohnten Tonart (notiert) Des-Dur bewähren, doch das spritzige Stück lohnt die Mühe.
Endlich ein echtes Konzertstück für (junge) Schüler.

Sonatine in three movements for horn and piano by Wolfgang Schumann The Sonatine for
Horn is an adequate and rewarding solo work in three movements for pupils between
beginners and advanced, in which you fortunately do not notice the attribute of excercising
literature. Schumann`s manner of composition is modern with little clusters and jazz harmonies,
but still agreeable to the ears. In the first two movements he avoids thematic repetitions and
traditional forms.
Assocations of recognition are raised by repeated patterns of accompaniment by the piano. Only
the third movement brings in its pure form a real repetition of the first part. The solo horn must
prove successful in this phase of learning in the mostly still unused key des-major (noted), but
the sparkling piece is worth while it.After all a true piece of concert for young pupils!
