Listz, Franz (arr. Ralph Sauer)
Romance oublieé
für Bassposaune und Klavier
Verlag: Cherry Classics MusicStil: RomantikAusgabe: NotenArt-Nr.: K32600 / CC 2895 Level: (3)

Liszt composed the "Romance oubliée" for piano around 1844. It was then forgotten until he heard Violist Hermann Ritter at the first performance of Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" at Bayreuth. Liszt fashioned for Ritter a transcription of the work for Viola and Piano as well as ones for the Piano, Violin and Violoncello.

In this short work, the listener hears the agonies of a troubled soul, beginning with a rhapsodic passage, continuing with a cadenza-like section, then a section with arpeggiated figures, finally settling into a peaceful ending.

This 4-minute work is appropriate for advanced performers. With Mr. Sauer's arrangement we now have this lovely version for Tuba or Bass Trombone and Piano.
